Tankfest

We went to track fest this year.  It is an annual event for the Flying Heritange and Combat Armor Museum in Everett, WA.  The museum was a hobby of Paul Allen, who helped co-found Microsoft.  Allen would purchase planes and armored vehicles that he liked, have them fixed up to working order, and then display them in his museum.  thankfully, the museum continues after his death.

The lineup to get in wasn’t too bad.  We got there before the crowds, so it was easy to get parking.

one of the landing craft used on D-Day…

There are exceptions to the “everything is in working order” rule… such as this M48 (they have two of them), which was cut in half to show the inside of the vehicle.  i was on an M48 in the National Guard, although it was a newer variant.

This made for an interesting view of the inside of the tank, that’s for sure!

I had a blast explaining how things worked to the little guys…

“Combat Vehicles” apparently includes Torpedoes.  =]

Most of the vehicles were American, but there were vehicles from quite a few different countries.  The vehicle types range from an old Army “Mule,” to Jeeps, Armored Cars (pictured here), tanks, and even a SCUD-B launcher.

On hand for Tankfest was the “Son of Reptile Man”
