A weekend at Silverdale

The not so little guy went out on his first Boy Scout camping trip, and we decided to take the little guy out on a weekend away, too.  We picked Silverdale, because we haven’t spent much time out that way, and it was reasonably close to where the Scout outing was.

We picked up a couple of scouts, which was fun, but it challenged our bag-packing ability… the Journey did pretty well, though!

It was a good distance to the camp, but the views of the sunset more than made up for it.  We enjoyed the drive from the camp to the hotel in Silverdale.

The next morning, any concerns about the weather were put to rest!

We went down on the shoreline, and checked out the little critters that called the rocky, gravelly beaches home.

A “most of the family” group photo with the little guy.

We found an assortment of animals, including a bunch of small crabs.

We flipped over shells and rocks to find the little guys and watch them scurry for cover.

The Sound in that area was smooth, still, and peaceful.  There were pictures of Orca in the inlet area, which would have been an awesome sight.

The sunsets were very nice!  We were usually late heading to someplaceto eat, but we were treated with great views walking on the many trails in Silverdale to get around.  Silverdale is pretty proud of its walking and hiking trails, by the way.

checking out the critters became a recurring thing.  =]

We walked out onto a dock to see what we could see out there.

There were quite a few animals attached to the dock.

A shadow pic… the first in quite some time!

There was a pretty nice park near the hotel a short walk away… we had a lot of fun there!

The ferry ride on the way home was even a hit… in all, it was a great weekend… one we will hopefully plan to do again!
