Westport Light

Before heading home, e checked out Westport light, one of the tallest in Washington State.

The light was on the shore when it was built, but not it sits some 1400 feet back from the shoreline, a testament to how much silt the Columbia puts into the Pacific.  The outflow drifts north, and is deposited in the Westport and Ocean Shores areas.

The light was built to help guide ships into Grays Harbor.  Now a considerable distance back from the beach, it still serves that purpose.
