These are clips from http://www.svengrahn.pp.se/trackind/Apollo17/APOLLO17.htm that show that there were several folks out there tracking the mission on the ground. If NASA had been up to any funny stuff… these guys would have likely heard things that were out of place (such as the transmission to the ship and then back theory, for instance)
You can bet that if amateur Americans were doing this, the Soviets were doing this as well.
I know that’s a lot of stuff… but I found it VERY fascinating!
